Can I use your razors to shave my head?

Our razors are perfect for any part of your body, especially for head-shaving! Whether you are shaving your head for the 1st time or you've been rocking the clean look for a long time, our razors will provide a close and easy shave for this purpose. The added benefit of being able to control the amount of blade exposure lets you dial into a new level of comfort.  Here are some tips to make sure you have a smooth and hassle-free experience.

Preparation.
For 1st time head-shavers , we recommend buzzing it down first using a clipper before beginning the shaving process.

We highly recommend shaving immediately after a hot shower to make sure your skin is clean and hydrated and your pores are open. This is the perfect time to use your pre-shave products like our pre-shave oil and apply a good amount to your scalp. This will create a thin protective layer between the blade and your skin to help your razor glide more easily and create less friction.

Time to lather up! Take your time to warm up your shave cream and spread an even and consistent coating to improve the closeness of the razor and to provide good comfort that will prevent irritation.

Shaving.

Our customers oftentimes use settings 1 or 2 for head shaving, but you may want to even go higher if you have particularly thick hair. Always check your blades to make sure they aren't dull to prevent pulling and tugging that may lead to some irritation or nicks.

Go slow and take your time! Use light and smooth strokes starting from the top of your heard going forward, we don't think it's necessary to go against the grain. Then do the sides, holding the skin taut will help make the glide go easier.  Then do the back of the head, again working from top to bottom, use a second mirror if necessary to get a better view of the back of your head.

Rinse your blade often and reapply shave cream if needed. Feel the scalp with your hand to make sure you didn't miss any spot and if you want a closer shave, a second pass may be needed.

Post Shave.
Rinse well with cold water to close your pores and firm up the skin, pat dry with a towel. You might make some mistakes and get a nick or two, that's all right, even expert shavers get a couple of cuts along the way. This is the best time to use your alum sticks to treat the nicks and seal it minimizing the bleeding.

Then use our Aftershave Balm to rehydrate and moisturize your skin, this step is important especially for people with sensitive skin.  This product will leave your skin feeling fantastic and smelling great all day.

Remember that head-shaving takes practice to perfect. Make sure you take into consideration the shape of your head, coarseness of hair and your skin sensitivity to have the best and most effective shaving routine customized for you.
